A new year is as good a time as any to get started on a general remodel. If you’ve been sketching out ideas and crunching the numbers, this post is for you. Let’s take a look at some of the trends that are set to dominate freshly remodeled Burbank homes in 2026.

Focus on the Floor

If you’re lucky enough to have one of Burbank’s beautiful Spanish Revival homes, you’ll want to focus on preserving its character and rich history. One of the ways you can do this through a remodel is by focusing on your flooring.  These types of historic homes look their best when you showcase their charm. Saltillo tiles are rustic and made from terracotta. Since they’re hand-crafted, no two tiles are alike so the result is a home that keeps its originality and uniqueness. These tiles are great for any room of the house, but especially the kitchen and bathroom since they’re durable and long-lasting. With LVP and blinding white finishes falling by the wayside this year, saltillo tiles are here to make a statement.  Live in Luxury Southern California residents love their comfort, which is why bathrooms and living rooms that mimic spas and lounges are skyrocketing in popularity. If you want to enhance your home’s functionality and overall luxury vibe, consider features like solid core doors to block sound and soft, integrated lighting to always have the perfect mood in any room.  Part of having a relaxed space is having a clutter-free space. Built-in storage shelves and collapsible storage units make this a reality. They look sleek when they’re flush with the wall, and they offer more valuable space in an out-of-the-way location.

Make it Flex

With median home prices hovering around a million dollars in Burbank, you’re right to try to get as much as you can out of your current abode. Ideally, you can remodel your home to make spaces multi-functional so you can use them in many ways throughout the day.  Think about a living room with built-in lounge seating and tech integrations to make it seamlessly transition into a game room. Or, a home office with barn doors perfect for privacy when it needs to transform into an in-house conference room.

2026 is the Year of the Remodel

There are nearly endless ways to make your space flexible when you’re doing a general remodel. The key is to really think about how you plan to use the space and then craft the layout and design around your everyday routines and habits for the best results. A general remodel can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. In fact, it’s exciting to give your home a new start, especially at the start of a new year.
