A home that shouldn’t work, but does. The vision for this remodel and addition was to create a space built around contrast: between light and dark; minimal and expressive; modern yet unexpectedly ornate. Bold architectural lines were paired with deep charcoal cabinetry, a dramatic glass stairwell, and sculptural details to create a home that feels striking, layered, and that it belongs in an editorial.
Overview
Step inside the interior, and notice the oversized skylights that flood the kitchen with natural light. They cast dramatic shadows throughout the day and emphasize the home’s sharp geometry and vaulted ceilings. Highlights include the custom matte cabinetry with brass hardware, glass stair railings, and the striking marble slab feature that plays double-duty as a piece of artwork within the space.
In short, this is a remodel built on contrast, a modern statement home that’s filled with whimsical touches that shouldn’t work, but surprisingly do.

Every now and then, you luck up on an honest contractor. Ben is one of those guys. I had a handyman do subpar work on my shed. Ben came out and gave me a lot of great advice — free of charge and without concern of whether or not I was going to hire him. He was extremely helpful and even referred me to his trusted electrician to deal with directly. He also made another call for me to research what I needed to do to make other items up to code. Again, for free. I wish there were more…
